Salewa has named the vest Sorapis after the legendary mountain Sorapiss (ital. Sorapis), which rises high above Cortina. It has an abrasion-resistant softshell construction of lightweight Durastretch, making it the ideal wind-resistant but breathable outer protective layer for alpine trekking and hiking.
Why softshell?
Because softshell materials give you stretch and freedom of movement and are simply comfortable and versatile! This model’s single-layer, moisture-wicking construction makes it an ideal lightweight vest.
It has a sporty fit, a close-fitting collar and a soft chin guard, as well as elastic edging at the armholes and hem. There is also a shallow welded chest pocket with a secure zip.
The soft and cleanly finished high-quality inner material is very comfortable to wear and the treatment with Polygiene provides lasting odour control. The growth of odour-causing bacteria is stopped, so you can wear the vest longer and wash it less often.
Durastretch
Durastretch fabrics have become classics for mountaineering and climbing trousers. Their distinguishing features are that they’re light and comfortable, robust and resistant. This creates polymer yarn in different strength and structure. These fabrics are resistant to abrasion and tearing. Most Durastretch fabrics are suitable for year-round use because their soft inner side quickly wicks perspiration and moisture away. This year we are showing some newly developed fabrics in the Durastretch range, including Durastretch Powerlite. This is so far the lightest version of the double fabrics (140 g/sqm) that we offer for alpine climbing.
